Nancy's tourist office offers you a real trip back in time, to discover the capital of the Dukes of Lorraine.
Retracing the history of Nancy, from the Middle Ages to the integration of the Duchy of Lorraine into the Kingdom of France, this guided tour will take you to the emblematic sites of the city, including the famous Place Stanislas, classified by UNESCO.
Built by Stanislas Leszczynski to link the new city of Charles III and the old city, the Place Stanislas is a must-see jewel. You will contemplate the classical architecture of its facades, the finesse of its gates embellished with gold and the poetry of its fountains. You will understand what earned Nancy the nickname of "City of Golden Gates". With the Place de la Carrière and the Place d'Alliance, it is part of the royal complex classified by UNESCO.
In the historical center, the Dukes' Palace will surely fascinate you with its flamboyant gothic and renaissance architecture. Take a few more steps and you will find the Cordeliers church which houses the tombs of the Dukes of Lorraine. Not far from there, the imposing Porte de la Craffe marks the closing of the medieval city to the north.
