Looking for an unusual adventure with family and friends? Why not explore the underground galleries of the Saint-Louis Eisenthür mine? This unique experience will be tailor-made for you, for a unique experience in a small group. An immersive journey into the history of the miners of yesteryear, but also an opportunity to explore other facets of nature.
After donning the equipment provided by ASEPAM, enter the Saint-Louis mine for almost 1h30 of underground adventure. A unique circuit awaits you to discover a maze of galleries dug out in the 16th century. The route will plunge you into the fascinating world of the miners of the time, through mysterious paths. Walk along, and take time to observe along the way. Each stage of the journey will remind you of the history of the mines as recounted by your guide before your immersion.
During this half-day of exploration, you’ll have the privilege of entering the Avalanche Room. This is the meeting point of the 3 silver mines that made Ste-Marie-aux-Mines famous in the past, where you can spend a unique moment in a convivial atmosphere.
Abandoned by the miners in 1570, the Saint-Louis Eisenthür mine is a historic site that bears witness to 2 decades of mining. Its galleries have been left untouched to offer you authentic discoveries.

L'Aventure des Mines (association ASEPAM)
For more than 35 years, the "Association Spéléologique pour l'Etude et la Protection des Anciennes Mines" (ASEPAM) has been working to preserve and promote the mining, geological and mineralogical heritage of the Val d'Argent. This mining history is retraced in the permanent exhibition "Les Chemins de l'Argent" presented at L'Aventure des Mines, the association's premises. Throughout the year, ASEPAM's organizers and volunteers offer visitors the opportunity to discover two silver mines: the Saint-Louis Eisenthür mine and the Gabe Gottes mine, two underground routes that were opened for mining in the 16th century and have been preserved just as the miners left them. Specific events are regularly organized (historical reenactment in May, special Christmas visits...), in addition to the archaeological work site taking place every year in July.
