The Twilight of Stones: an immersive investigation at the heart of Metz
Dive into the history of Metz with Le Crépuscule des Pierres, an immersive creation presented at the Église Saint-Joseph de Montigny-lès-Metz. Blurring the lines between theater, cinema, and investigation, this spectacle combines live actors, monumental video projections, sound, and light in a stunningly captivating setting. Here, you don’t just witness history—you actively participate in its unfolding.
Guided by Anne de La Tour, a historian and lecturer, you embark on an inquiry spanning several centuries. It all begins with a striking parallel between two popes sharing the same name: Léon 9, a former bishop of Toul who became pope in the 11th century, and Léon 14. As Anne delves into the archives, she uncovers a mysterious event that seems to strike her family every 59 years. A chain of dates leading up to 2026, gradually turning her research into a real countdown.
To solve this enigma, you’ll revisit pivotal moments and figures in the history of Metz and France. The great fire of the city, the siege by Charles V, the paintings of Georges de La Tour, and the court of Louis XIV become pieces of a single puzzle. Supported by monumental projections and a spectacular staging, the narrative transforms the Église Saint-Joseph into a vast exploration ground. The investigation is in your hands: equipped with interactive voting devices, you make decisions that shape the story and may alter its outcome.
Le Crépuscule des Pierres invites you to experience history differently, up close with the characters and mysteries of the past. Can you unravel the enigma and make the right choices? Join this immersive adventure and reserve your spot to live a spectacular experience at the heart of Metz’s history!
