Immersion in a rich heritage

Feel like a spot of art and culture? Then head for Metz and its famous Centre Pompidou-Metz, or to Scy-Chazelles for a visit to the house where the “Father of Europe” Robert Schuman lived. Moselle also contains a good many memorial sites emblematic of its wartime history.

Moselle’s heritage also lies in the hands of its craftspeople as many areas of knowhow have been perfected here. Don’t miss out on the “Route Touristique des Arts du Feu” (Arts of Fire Tourist Route), the only one of its kind in France, which will take you to the workshops of craftspeople working in ceramics, earthenware, glass and crystal. Industry also figures prominently, as its long history of iron and coal mining has turned a number of industrial sites into true works of art well worth the visit, including U4 Blast Furnace Park in Uckange.
