Enjoy an unforgettable cycling experience in the heart of three border regions: Alsace, Palatinate and Baden. This cross-border tour takes you through the Espace PAMINA, an area rich in cultural, heritage and natural diversity. Over the course of a week, you’ll pass through UNESCO World Heritage landscapes, typical villages and unspoilt natural areas, for a cycling trip that combines gentle discovery with historical immersion.
Day 1: Departure from Strasbourg
Check-in at the hotel and free time to discover Strasbourg. The day is spent strolling through the historic center, around Notre-Dame Cathedral and in the picturesque Petite France district, famous for its canals and half-timbered houses.
Day 2: Strasbourg to Rastatt (approx. 65 km)
Depart for the Rhine on a cycle path. The route crosses the Rhine plain before reaching Germany. Arriving in Rastatt, you’ll discover a city marked by Baroque architecture, surrounded by alluvial forests and tranquil riverside landscapes.
Day 3: Rastatt to Wissembourg region (approx. 60 km)
Return to France via the Sauer Delta nature reserve. The route passes through several typical Alsatian villages, including Seebach and Hunspach, ranked among France’s most beautiful villages. The day continues through the vineyards of Cleebourg.
Day 4: Wissembourg to Obersteinbach region (approx. 40-60 km)
Two route options are available: one through Lembach, with the chance to explore the remains of the Maginot Line, the other through the Dahn region and its vast wooded areas. This stage takes place in the heart of the Vosges du Nord – Pfälzerwald cross-border biosphere reserve, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Day 5: Obersteinbach to La Petite Pierre (approx. 55 km)
The route winds through forests, meadows and orchards before reaching La Petite Pierre, a fortified town on a rocky outcrop. Here, you’ll discover the castle, quiet lanes and local gastronomy, including the famous tarte flambée.
Day 6: La Petite Pierre to Saverne (approx. 35 to 75 km)
The stage can be direct and short to Saverne, or extended by a loop to admire the Plan Incliné de Saint-Louis-Arzviller, a spectacular structure on the Marne-Rhine canal. In Saverne, you can visit the Château des Rohan, the town’s historic landmark.
Day 7: Saverne to Strasbourg (approx. 50 km)
Return to Strasbourg on EuroVelo 5, along the Marne-Rhine Canal. The day unfolds in a soothing atmosphere, punctuated by locks and greenery. You can stop off at the Villa Météor to discover the history of France’s oldest brewery still in operation. Arrival in Strasbourg marks the end of the tour.
Day 8: End of tour
End of the adventure, or extend your stay as you wish.
