During your visit to the Arthur Rimbaud Museum, housed in a former mill on the banks of the Meuse, discover an exceptional collection dedicated to the poet. Original manuscripts, photographs taken by Rimbaud himself, artists’ books and works inspired by his texts make up a rich and accessible tour. You can admire major works such as the manuscripts of « Voyelles » or « À la musique », while discovering how great artists such as Picasso, Léger, Giacometti, Cocteau and Ernest Pignon-Ernest viewed Rimbaud. The self-guided tour allows you to linger over the works that most appeal to you, and experience a fully personalized discovery.
The tour continues at the Maison des Ailleurs, the former family home where Arthur Rimbaud lived from the age of 15 to 21. Located just a few steps from the museum, on the other side of the street, it naturally extends the tour experience. Here, you can freely explore the young poet’s daily environment during one of the most influential periods in his literary career. Each room invites you to imagine the inspirations and writings that shaped his world-famous work.

The Arthur Rimbaud Museum is a must-see place to learn more about the iconic poet born in Charleville. Located in the heart of the historic center, the museum presents the life and work of Arthur Rimbaud through the poet’s manuscripts and numerous works by contemporary artists such as Picasso, Léger, Giacometti, Cocteau, Max Ernst, Sonia Delaunay and, closer to home, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, all of whom were inspired by Rimbaud’s poems and figure.The Arthur Rimbaud Museum holds over 2,000 works in its collection.
