The National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse is one of the most prestigious museums in the world. This majestic building will captivate you at first glance with its entrance, adorned by a garland of cars suspended several meters above the ground. Behind its imposing doors, projections of cars move in sync with your steps and guide you to the next area. A truly immersive experience awaits you the moment you arrive!
The museum invites you to discover the history of the automobile in its “Adventure” section, which showcases 243 iconic car models across nearly 17,000 m². These models are displayed chronologically in a space adorned with elegant floor lamps. The “Ancestors” section brings together cars of yesteryear, where Peugeots, Benzes, and Panhards are beautifully lined up along the aisle. The “Modern” section features car models released after 1945. And the “Classic” section brings together cars from the period between these two eras, including Citroën’s famous Traction Avant, an iconic model from 1934.
There’s also a section dedicated to auto racing. There you’ll discover a beautiful collection of sports cars such as the Mercedes W125, the Lotus Type 33, and the famous Bugatti Type 32, among others. Just a few steps away, step back into the 1930s and enjoy the collection of the 80 most beautiful cars of that era in the “Masterpieces” section.
