The Cave aux Coquillages, dug in a former Champagne farm, invites you to an unusual experience in an underground environment. Accompanied by a guide, you will discover an exceptional geological and paleontological heritage.
It gathers in its underground layout a multitude of fossils. Among others, you will discover the Campaniles gigateum. These specimens of 40 to 60 cm length are giant shells, which testify of the geological wealth of Champagne. The locality would have been covered with tropical sea water more than 45 million years ago!
The winery is located in an old family farm in the heart of the village. In the region, vineyards flourish majestically thanks to the richness of its soil and the generosity of its climate. After your escapade, a champagne tasting will be offered.
The Cave aux Coquillages is an original and enriching idea to do with family or friends. To make the most of this place, guest rooms are available on site.

EARL CHAMPAGNE LEGRAND-LATOUR - LA CAVE AUX COQUILLAGES
It is a Champagne cellar like no other, where geology, paleontology and oenology are combined. Nestled in the hillsides of the Marne Valley, it is a journey back through time that is offered during a guided visit to the Lutetian period, 45 million years ago, when a tropical sea extended as far as Champagne.
Fossils from this period, exceptionally well preserved and for which the area is famous, have been put into their natural context and presented all along a route of underground galleries.
The unusual character of this cellar also highlights the special relationship between the geology and the Champagne wine of the Legrand-Latour family estate.
