Discover the job of animal caretaker – Children and Teens

Passionate about animals? Take a half-day tour of the day-to-day work of an animal caretaker. Head for the Moselle, to the Amnéville Zoo for a close-up experience with the animals.

At Amnéville Zoo, children and teenagers can enjoy an extraordinary experience as animal caretakers. For half a day, they can discover the most fascinating species of wild fauna. In particular, children will meet one of Europe's largest carnivores, the Ural: the Brown Bear.

After learning all about this mammal, they'll enter their enclosure to help clean up. After the experience with the Bears, we'll head for the kitchen to concoct the food ration for the raccoons and coatis, and finally hand them out in their living space. As for teenagers, their afternoon will focus on white tigers, hippos and tapirs.

Along the way, participants can learn to tame snakes and even touch them. The less adventurous can carry parakeets in the palm of their hands. Others can watch the hippos undergo medical training. An experience for children aged 7 to 10, and teens aged 11 to 14!
