Training course in animal care at Amnéville Zoo – Child
A must-see in Moselle, the Parc Zoologique d’Amnéville offers an exciting week for children and teenagers with a passion for animals. Put on shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor activities, as many surprises await you alongside the zoo’s caretakers and animators!
Just a stone’s throw from Metz, in the heart of the Grand Est region, the park covers 18 hectares and is home to over 360 species from all five continents. For 5 days, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., this immersion in the heart of the zoo will enable the new generation (aged 8 to 14) to experience unique moments up close to the animals!
On the program:
– Cleaning of their enclosures
– Medical training
– Zoology
– Education and empowerment in the face of tomorrow’s challenges
The adventure begins with a tour of the various facilities on site. Discover animals from the Amazon rainforest, African savannah and Asian mountains. The animator will be delighted to explain in detail the animals’ way of life.
Young trainees can also enter the enclosures of the local inhabitants to gain a better understanding of their natural habitat. To raise awareness of the need to protect wildlife, the Zoo has set up facilities that closely resemble the animals’ natural environment. The more adventurous can get up close and personal with giraffes and elephants. Teenagers aged 11 and over can take part in the care of the hippos. Younger visitors can get up close to coatis and raccoons.
During the week, everyone helps prepare the animals’ meals. In a specially equipped kitchen, the caretakers explain the daily food intake of each species. Accompanied by these professionals, they can then feed the animals in their own enclosures.
It’s a unique experience, and one that could confirm the vocation of some children as caretakers from an early age. The ticket also allows daytime access to the park. This is a unique opportunity to explore all the park’s paths and learn more about animals from 5 continents. Over 2,000 of them come here!
