Cycling from Strasbourg to Basel, half-timbered houses and vineyards
Thanks to this turnkey cycling tour, you can explore Alsace and the cross-border region at your own pace, unaccompanied and unaccompanied. On this 8-day tour, picturesque towns follow one another, but they’re never the same. And the vineyards are everywhere. The starting point for this romantic journey is Strasbourg, the capital of Europe. You’ll also pass through the three beautiful cities of Colmar, Mulhouse and Basel.

Day 1: Arrival in Strasbourg
Welcome to Strasbourg! Settle into your accommodation and enjoy the evening exploring the picturesque Petite France district or admiring the majestic Gothic cathedral.
Day 2: Strasbourg – Obernai region approx. 37 km
Head south along the Route des Vins. You’ll pass through typical villages on your way to Obernai or the surrounding area, at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. Alsatian charm guaranteed!
Day 3: Obernai region – Riquewihr region approx. 50 km
This day plunges you into the heart of the vineyards. The road winds through listed villages such as Barr, Andlau and Kaysersberg, to the outskirts of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Day 4: Riquewihr region – Colmar approx. 39 km
You reach Colmar, capital of Alsace wines, with its canals, half-timbered houses and prestigious museums. A picture-postcard setting to enjoy by bike… or on foot.
Day 5: Day at leisure or Guebwiller/Mulhouse loop approx. 50/76 km
Enjoy a well-deserved rest day in Colmar, or opt for a loop to Guebwiller or Mulhouse and return by train. A good compromise between culture, sport and relaxation.
Day 6: Colmar – Mulhouse region approx. 66 km
A beautiful stage combining nature and industrial heritage. The route descends gently into southern Alsace, between villages and countryside.
Day 7: Mulhouse region – Basel region approx. 53 km
The slightly undulating route offers a beautiful finish, between Rhine, vineyards and cross-border landscapes.
Day 8: End of tour or extension
End of the adventure or extend your discovery of the region by bike or train.
