How about discovering Alsace in a different way? This bike tour, ideal for beginners, offers a gentle and complete immersion in the Alsatian way of life. On perfectly laid-out cycle paths, you’ll cross the region’s most beautiful landscapes, between vineyards, flower-filled villages and heritage treasures. Each day, you pedal at your own pace on short stages, taking advantage of the many opportunities for visits, tastings or contemplative breaks.
Day 1: Arrival in Strasbourg
Settle into the capital of Alsace and explore its historic center, a World Heritage Site. The majestic Gothic cathedral, Petite France and canals offer a first glimpse of Alsace’s incomparable charm.
Day 2: Strasbourg to Obernai – approx. 40 km
Head south on the superb Bruche Canal cycle path. This ancient Roman road follows the peaceful waters of the canal to Molsheim, then Obernai. These two towns of the Golden Crown welcome you with their lively lanes, half-timbered houses and flower-filled squares.
Day 3: Obernai to Andlau – approx. 15 km
A gentle stage in the heart of Alsace’s vineyards. You’ll pass through Mittelbergheim, one of France’s most beautiful villages, on your way to Andlau, nestled between vineyards and forest. En route, stop off at the Gertwiller gingerbread museum or at one of the many wine cellars for a tasting.
Day 4: Andlau to Saint-Hippolyte – approx. 25 km
The wine-growing landscape continues as far as Saint-Hippolyte. In Kintzheim, a shuttle bus takes you to the Montagne des Singes or the Volerie des Aigles, two emblematic sites. You can also visit the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg for a spectacular view over the Alsace plain.
Day 5: Saint-Hippolyte to Kaysersberg – approx. 20 km
Today, you’ll cycle through charming villages such as Bergheim, voted « Village Préféré des Français », Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, where NaturOparc has been committed to preserving the region’s biodiversity for over 40 years. A day full of discoveries all the way to Kaysersberg, birthplace of Albert Schweitzer.
Day 6: Kaysersberg to Eguisheim – approx. 20 km
After strolling through Kaysersberg, head for Eguisheim, another « Village Préféré des Français ». On the way, stop off at the Musée du Vignoble et des Vins d’Alsace in Kientzheim to learn more about local winemaking expertise. Overnight in Eguisheim, an architectural gem surrounded by vineyards.
