Take the time to discover Alsace in a different way, at your own pace. For 7 days, set off on an exceptional hiking trip between the Ballons des Vosges and Alsace’s famous vineyards, on a carefully mapped itinerary between Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg, Munster and Wintzfelden. An itinerant journey combining grandiose landscapes, historical heritage and local traditions.
From Eguisheim to Kaysersberg, via Munster, Turckheim and Wintzfelden, you’ll discover a new setting every day. Between 14 and 23 km a day, on marked trails, you’ll cross the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, skirt famous vineyards and climb the Vosges crests to enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the Black Forest and the Alsace plain.
Each day offers between 14 and 23 km of walking on marked trails, with travel documents and GPS tracks provided. You hike in complete freedom, with luggage transfer between each stage, comfortable 3- and 4-star accommodation with breakfasts included, and 7/7 telephone assistance. Lunch and dinner are arranged as you wish, with the option of stopping off at local inns.
Day 1: Arrival in Eguisheim
Welcome to Eguisheim, gem of the Alsace Wine Route and one of France’s most beautiful villages. Nestled at the foot of three castles, this typical village features colorful half-timbered houses, winding streets and a medieval ambience. Ideal for a charming start to your adventure.
Day 2: Eguisheim to Turckheim approx. 14 km
First steps on the heights with a climb to the Eguisheim castles, then to the Hohlandsbourg, offering a breathtaking panorama of Colmar and the Alsace plain. On the way back down, you reach Turckheim, where a night watchman in 16th-century costume carries on a unique tradition every evening.
Day 3: Turckheim to Kaysersberg approx. 14 km
The tour continues through Alsace’s famous crus to Kaysersberg, birthplace of Albert Schweitzer. This village, with its rich medieval heritage, is a picture-postcard setting, with half-timbered houses and the remains of the ancient Roman road that linked Alsace to Lorraine.
Day 4: Kaysersberg to Munster approx. 23 km
The most challenging stage takes you into the heart of the Ballons des Vosges to the first Vosges peaks, with the ascent of the Petit Hohnack at 927 meters and the passage over the Col de la Croix de Wihr before arriving in Munster, nestled in a green valley and famous for its distinctive cheese. This is your chance to taste its famous cheese, accompanied by an Alsatian white wine.
Day 5: Munster to Wintzfelden approx. 16 km
Head for the heights of the Wassenberg and the Mühlenkopf before descending to the vineyards of Wintzfelden. On the way, stop off at a traditional farmhouse inn for a typical marcaire meal based on farm produce and traditional recipes.
Day 6: Direction Eguisheim approx. 17 km
The last day’s walk offers panoramic views of the Rhine valley from a balcony path above the Rhine valley. You pass through the wine-growing village of Gueberschwihr, famous for its Romanesque bell tower, before returning to Eguisheim via ancient Celtic sites.
