Sporting hike at the Balcons des Lacs

From the top of the breathtaking Vosges peaks, admire an exceptional panorama of mountain forests and lakes below. An aerial hike of around 12 km and 450 m of ascent will take you to the most beautiful viewpoints in these picturesque landscapes.

The tour starts with a very aerial section from the Col du Calvaire. Nestled at an altitude of 1,144 m on the route des crêtes, this is one of the highest passes in the massif. It lies close to the memorial sites where the violent confrontations of the First World War took place. Your guide can add local legends to your hike to tell you more about these places.

The route then crosses the cornice overlooking Lac Blanc. Granite boulders are scattered along the trail, offering numerous views of the mountains and lake. You're likely to spot chamois, emblems of the Vosges fauna, in the vicinity. Keep your eyes peeled, as these small mountain mammals like to camouflage themselves. The route then skirts the ski area of the Lac Blanc resort before continuing into the heart of the Tanet-Gazon du Faing nature reserve. Here, you'll discover the rich biodiversity of the Vosges mountains. Fauna, flora, thatches, peat bogs, you'll see it all. On this last stretch, the panorama widens. You'll enjoy a 360° view of the Vosges, including the Kaysersberg and Munster valleys.
