Climb aboard on one of the Grand Est’s famous waterways

Did you know? The Grand Est also means 1,375 km of rivers and canals, including over 420 km of navigable waters and 36 ports of call. A real little paradise where you can laze the day away aboard a cruiser or take a boat trip of your own! In the romantic Rhine Valley, on the banks of old man Meuse, or on smaller flower-bordered rivers such as the Ill, the landscape slips peacefully by.

Don’t miss out on the Marne-Rhine Canal: from Nancy to Strasbourg, this 300-km waterway crosses the Lorraine Regional Nature Park, Vosges and the Alsace Plain. An unmissable experience for boaters!

Trudge your way to our mountaintops...

… and be dazzled by our spectacular vistas.

In the Grand Est, we like to make the utmost of our unspoilt landscapes and the peace and quiet provided by nature. Which is why there are so many “Grande Randonnée” hiking trails, with some 3,200 km of marked out pathways to roam the length and breadth of, but not stray from: the fauna and flora will thank you for it!

Make your way along an outstanding 430-km route combining the famous GR® 5 and the GR® 53, and cross the Vosges Massif. The first route in France with the “Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe” label, it winds through picturesque villages and enchanted forests and alongside ancient castles, promising you a host of discoveries along the way. For a well-deserved break, enjoy bivouacking under the shooting stars or a delicious marcaire meal at a farm inn!
