The Prémontrés Abbey is a must-see destination for lovers of art, heritage, and culture. Located in an iconic Lorraine landmark in Pont-à-Mousson, it offers a year-round program of exhibitions that highlight major artistic movements, regional craftsmanship, and contemporary art. Each exhibition offers a new opportunity to discover remarkable works of art in an exceptional architectural setting.
From July 11 to September 20, 2026, the exhibition “The Wizards of Fire—Joseph and Pierre Mougin” pays tribute to two major figures in Lorraine ceramics. Through an exceptional private collection, it traces the careers of these artists who left their mark on Art Nouveau and later Art Deco. Their high-fire stoneware creations, their experiments with glazes, and their collaborations with artists such as Victor Prouvé and Géo Condé illustrate the full richness of their work and their contribution to the revival of the French decorative arts.
From October 3 to December 13, 2026, the exhibition “Terres d’ar(t)gile” extends this immersion into the world of ceramics. It highlights the history and excellence of this craftsmanship, deeply rooted in the Grand Est region, from historic workshops to contemporary creations. The works on display reflect the diversity of techniques, materials, and inspirations that breathe life into this art form today. This exhibition invites visitors to explore the dialogue between tradition and innovation through pieces by established and emerging ceramic artists, offering a vibrant glimpse into a heritage that is constantly evolving.
Whether you’re passionate about the decorative arts, curious to discover Lorraine’s heritage, or simply looking for a cultural outing, the Abbaye des Prémontrés welcomes you for an experience rich in discoveries. Let yourself be inspired by these two exhibitions and start planning your visit today.
