Discover the Donon on a Celtic day hike
Discover the sacred mountain of Donon in the Vosges Massif, accompanied by a passionate guide. Between stories and legends, this one-day hike proposed for a small group of people, will plunge you in the heart of the Celtic and Roman Alsace.
At the crossroads of Alsace and Lorraine, the Donon rises to an altitude of more than 1,000 m. It stands out from the other summits of the Vosges Massif thanks to its fantastic landscapes and the numerous vestiges it contains, witnesses of 2,000 years of history.
Approximately 7 hours of walking await you during which you will discover many curiosities to admire and immortalize in photos. The path of the casemates, as well as the Petit Donon and its steles in memory of the soldiers died in the fight (of both sides) will bring you back to the time of the First World War. You will also pass by the temple of the Donon, which was a high place of worship in the Celtic time and of ancient Rome!
This hike is suitable for everyone, but a correct equipment is necessary for its good realization: think of foreseeing an adapted outfit and good walking shoes. Don't forget your picnic, in order to recharge your batteries along the way!
