Immerse yourself in the history of Alsatian viticulture on a fascinating guided tour of the vineyards of the Emperors and Empresses at Sigolsheim. Discover how the region’s wine acquired an exceptional reputation as early as the 9th century.
During the tour, discover the story of Richarde of Swabia, wife of Emperor Charles the Fat and great-granddaughter of Charlemagne. She had a sanctuary built on her vast Sigolsheim estate, and today’s Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church is a magnificent testimony to this.
The tour takes you through the picturesque streets of the village of Sigolsheim, before taking you into the surrounding vineyards for an immersive exploration of local viticulture. You’ll learn about vine-growing techniques, grape harvesting, and of course, tasting local wines.
This tour is organized by the Ville de Kaysersberg Vignoble and Caroline Claude-Bronner, a passionate and experienced local guide. The tour is free, but booking is compulsory, with a maximum of 30 people per tour.

OFFICE DE TOURISME VALLEE DE KAYSERSBERG
Once upon a time, there was our beautiful Kaysersberg Valley...
It stretches from the Alsace plain and the wine route to the Lac Blanc resort at the gateway to the Route des Crêtes. From wine-growing towns in the lower valley to mountain villages in the upper, this is a land of great diversity, shaped by its landscapes! On the vineyard side, you'll find picturesque Alsatian villages like Ammerschwihr, Katzenthal and Kaysersberg Vignoble.
The upper valley, on the mountain side, abounds with farms, inns and hamlets where Vosges cows graze in the mountain villages of Fréland, Labaroche, Lapoutroie, Orbey and Le Bonhomme. There are many hiking trails between ridges, stubble fields and mountain lakes, on foot or mountain bike, to suit all tastes. In winter, several kilometers of downhill and cross-country ski slopes at the Lac Blanc ski resort allow sports enthusiasts to enjoy the benefits of the mountains to the full!
An unforgettable holiday!
