Want to discover the Grands Crus while learning more about the relationship between terroir and wine? There is nothing like a few lessons in geology to satisfy your curiosity.
Philippe Blanck, generous and wholehearted winemaker, volunteers to take you on a journey through the Paul Blanck et fils estate. With 8 Ha of Grands Crus, 8 Ha of Lieux-dits and Crus and 8 Ha of lowland vineyards, it is the ideal place to discover the best wines of Alsace.
As you walk through the vineyards, Philippe, your guide, will give you a passionate reading of the landscape. Listen to him talk about the exceptional terroir of the Schlossberg, a granitic soil that lies at an altitude of 200 to 300 meters. This fertile and mineral-rich soil brings freshness and a certain floral aroma to its wines.
Finally, your host will offer you a wine tasting. The objective is to make you feel the terroir in each of the wines you taste. Appreciate the wine with your heart: here, no technique is necessary, Philippe invites you to follow your intuitions and your feeling. The winemaker will suggest a wine that has grown on one of the observed soils: from the vine to the glass, observe their links through the wine’s color, feel the aromas, taste the terroir!

OFFICE DE TOURISME VALLEE DE KAYSERSBERG
Once upon a time, there was our beautiful Kaysersberg Valley...
It stretches from the Alsace plain and the wine route to the Lac Blanc resort at the gateway to the Route des Crêtes. From wine-growing towns in the lower valley to mountain villages in the upper, this is a land of great diversity, shaped by its landscapes! On the vineyard side, you'll find picturesque Alsatian villages like Ammerschwihr, Katzenthal and Kaysersberg Vignoble.
The upper valley, on the mountain side, abounds with farms, inns and hamlets where Vosges cows graze in the mountain villages of Fréland, Labaroche, Lapoutroie, Orbey and Le Bonhomme. There are many hiking trails between ridges, stubble fields and mountain lakes, on foot or mountain bike, to suit all tastes. In winter, several kilometers of downhill and cross-country ski slopes at the Lac Blanc ski resort allow sports enthusiasts to enjoy the benefits of the mountains to the full!
An unforgettable holiday!
