Saint Nicholas Day in Eastern France

Every year at the beginning of December, in Nancy, Metz, Epinal and Sélestat, children of all ages gather to celebrate Saint Nicolas, the emblematic figure of the Grand Est region.
In Alsace and Lorraine in particular, the patron saint of children is often more famous than Father Christmas, and gives rise to one of the region's most ancient and authentic traditions.
