25 Rue de Langres

An open-air history book

Visiting Marne means immersing yourself in the very heart of France’s history, above all in Reims, where the Kings of France were crowned in bygone days, and its many sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including its famous cathedral, the Saint-Remi Basilica and the Tau Palace.

A symbolic city where the last century’s two great wars were played out, Reims was a first-hand witness of the conflicts. Completely destroyed in the First World War, it was in Reims that the final unconditional surrender of the German armies was signed in 1945, as a symbol of destiny, and the Franco-German Reconciliation in 1963.

A thousand-year old history that has left its mark everywhere, in the many villages whose souls were forged by destiny. Remarkable sites, atypical municipalities and picturesque villages home to local festivals and traditions that have earned them the “Small Towns of Character” label!
