Why do some animals prefer to live in groups, while others opt for solitude? The Parc zoologique et botanique de Mulhouse offers you a one-hour guided tour to explore the different forms of social organization in the animal world, by observing the park’s species directly.
Accompanied by a scientific mediator for 1 hour, you’ll meet wolves, pelicans, sea lions, penguins, meerkats and pink flamingos. Each species will reveal its secrets through commented observations: hierarchy in wolves, mutual aid in penguins, collective vigilance in meerkats, synchronized movements in flamingos… You’ll learn to differentiate between a colony and an animal society, to recognize individual roles within a group and to understand the evolutionary advantages of grouping together: protection, reproduction, hunting or caring for young.
The educational approach, suitable for children aged 7 and over, makes the visit accessible to all. Explanations are clear, interactive and always illustrated with real-life examples that can be observed live. An excellent way to gain a better understanding of natural behaviors, while enriching your visit to the park.
This activity does not include admission to the park. Prior purchase of an admission ticket is required.
