Celebrate the European Heritage Days at the Ecomusée d’Alsace
Dive into the heart of history for a day at the Écomusée d’Alsace. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Rustaud War, the museum offers you a lively and authentic immersion in 16th-century Alsace, a period marked by one of Europe’s most striking popular uprisings.
As you stroll through the museum’s alleyways, you’ll discover scenes of life recreated by the Lothringen Landsknecht, who bring to life the daily lives of the insurgent peasants. Passionate storytellers recount tales of this forgotten revolt, evoking the hopes of the 12 Articles and the tragedy of the battles of Lupstein, Saverne and Scherwiller. The medieval atmosphere is reinforced by demonstrations of ancient skills: basket-making, spinning and weaving linen, candle-making, as well as an introduction to the flavors of 16th-century cooking, with period recipes for tasting.
This day, punctuated by music and historical anecdotes, offers you a real journey back in time, at the crossroads of social history, popular traditions and ancestral crafts.
Take advantage of the European Heritage Days to enjoy this unique experience at a preferential rate: for every 1 ticket purchased, the second is free (valid on site, on the cheapest ticket).
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to relive life-size history: plan your visit and let yourself be carried away by 16th-century Alsace!

Ecomusée d'Alsace
L'ÉCOMUSÉE D'ALSACE, A TRADITIONAL VILLAGE IN THE HEART OF NATURE
--
BUILDINGS & BIODIVERSITY
Today, the Ecomusée d'Alsace consists of a village of 80 buildings representative of Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century, all dismantled from their commune of origin and reassembled in the museum. Around the village, on an area of 97 hectares, you'll find 4 signposted trails to discover biodiversity, as well as agricultural areas in biological transition.
Be curious! Push open the door of each house to discover the treasures it contains: a converted interior, an exhibition, a craftsman's workshop or a stable with animals!

LABEL MUSÉE DE FRANCE
The Ecomusée d'Alsace boasts an exceptional collection of over 40,000 objects, reflecting the daily lives of Alsatians. When the museum was created in 1984, Alsatians became passionate about this adventure and began sending regular donations to the museum.
