Immerse yourself in one of the most emblematic sites of the Battle of Verdun: Mort-Homme.
On March 6, 1916, the Germans extended their offensive to the left bank of the Meuse. Their priority was to capture the Mort-Homme position.
Tens of thousands of men died between 1916 and 1917 to gain access to the view offered by its 295-metre altitude.
At the heart of a terrible artillery duel, the village of Cumières was totally destroyed and wiped off the map. Today, it remains the only « Red Zone » on the left bank of the Meuse, a poignant symbol of history and memory.
The purpose of this visit is to retrace the destiny of many of the combatants, some of whom are buried at the Chattancourt necropolis.
