Awe-inspiring Place Stanislas

If there’s one absolutely unmissable attraction in Nancy, its most certainly the far-famed Place Stanislas, quite simply regarded as one of the most beautiful squares in the world. Entirely pedestrianised, Place Stan’, as the locals call it, is the city’s beating heart.

The square’s elegance is bewitching and its beauty hypnotic. Surrounded by gilded gateways and majestic fountains, it’s inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. And that says something!

Take a break in Parc de la Pépinière

Nancy is a resolutely green city and contains a great many parks and gardens where you can get some top-quality fresh air. But its true green lung is the Pep’, or Parc de la Pépinière, whose 23 hectares of plant life enable you to really get away from it all.

Seated peacefully on a bench, you can be reading a book and, glancing up, find yourself looking into the eyes of a deer, peacock, or one of the other animals that make their home there. The park also acts as a venue for many of the cultural events organised by the city.

Rendezvous at the Museum of Fine Arts

Nancy is a city of art par excellence, so treat yourself to a visit to its superb Museum of Fine Arts on Place Stanislas. The building is a work of art in itself and its several floors trace the history of European art from the 14th century to the present day.

Exhibits include original works by Rodin, César, Manet and Caravaggio alongside others by Lorraine’s own artists. The Museum is a magnificent tribute to art in all its forms, awaiting your discovery within its sumptuous walls. Unmissable!

It contains over 900 natural history specimens: land animals, flying animals and aquatic animals all under one roof, awaiting your discovery along an itinerary designed to delight young and old alike.

From the “Nautilus” gallery, which takes its name from Jules Verne’s famous novel, to the “Calypso” gallery, a reference to Commander Cousteau’s ship, by way of the Zoology gallery, the Aquarium Museum has countless surprises in store for you. Hippopotami, giraffes and bears to name but a few… The whole world’s biodiversity is represented here alongside the Grand Est Region’s domestic breeds, including the Vosgienne cow and the Lorraine goat.

Immerse yourself in Art Nouveau at the Nancy School Museum

The Nancy School Museum is first and foremost the former home of Eugène Corbin, a major collector of Art Nouveau who bequeathed his house to the city. The establishment is also one of the few museums dedicated to this art form, which is based on curved lines, colours, and multiple decorative features inspired by the nature that surrounds us.

From one room to the next and out into the gardens, a world of wonderment awaits you in this emblematic museum so characteristic of the city of Nancy.
