Guided tour: Art Nouveau and Art Deco at Parc de Saurupt
Whether you’re an art and architecture enthusiast or curious about Nancy’s heritage, immerse yourself in a renowned residential neighborhood at Parc de Saurupt, famous for its Art Nouveau and Art Deco homes!
Designed in 1902 as a garden city, Parc de Saurupt is distinguished by the preservation of 5 Art Nouveau houses. These architectural gems were followed, during the inter-war years, by the construction of sumptuous Art Deco residences. This coexistence provides an opportunity to distinguish and appreciate these 2 architectural movements, which are often confused.
Parc de Saurupt was designed as a modern haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city, embodying the urban and architectural ideals of the Belle Époque. Conceived by members of the École de Nancy, the project grew over the years, allowing magnificent villas to flourish until the 1930s. This guided tour, led by a passionate expert, highlights not only the masterpieces of local Art Nouveau, but also the transition to Art Deco.
