April - Reims Polar, Reims

Get ready for 5 days of thrills, crime and investigation at the Reims Polar Detective Film Festival. This festival, dedicated to the detective genre, brings together filmmakers from all over the world. Iranian thrillers, Italian and French dramas, Korean action films... The selection is as wide-ranging as it is cutting-edge!

A number of out-of-competition films will also be screened, as well as works in the 'new blood' category that take a fresh approach to crime thrillers. The jury includes some of the biggest names in cinema, as well as professional police officers, who will be on hand to judge and award prizes to the films competing during the week-long festival in Reims.

October - War on screen, Châlons-en-Champagne

In a region with such a rich history, the War on Screen festival in Châlons-en-Champagne is an obvious choice!

The idea behind this atypical festival is to showcase films dealing with the theme of conflict. Revolutions, wars, political movements, espionage stories... Each year, more than 100 films are screened, covering just as many historical events. More than just film screenings, each screening is a real history lesson.

This festival, which specialises in auteur cinema, showcases documentaries, fiction, animated films and news reports. Throughout the year, War on Screen also runs a programme of support for writing, producing and directing, and supports a number of film students.

January - Fantastic Film Festival, Gérardmer

During the last week of January, strange creatures, monsters, superheroes and heroines take up residence in a ski resort in the Vosges mountains for the Gérardmer Fantastic Film Festival. And they're not the only ones to come and enjoy Gérardmer's mild winter weather: every year, a jury and guests of honour, all big names in French and international cinema, take part in the festival. Between the films in competition, the out-of-competition films and the retrospectives, there are plenty of screenings to choose from!

October - November - Cinoch', Rixheim

In Alsace, everyone has the right to a film festival, even the youngest! Animated films, dramas, film-concerts, evening events, workshops... During the Cinoch' Festival in Rixheim, an event aimed at young audiences, the cinema rolls out the red carpet for budding film buffs: a not-to-be-missed event to instil a love of the seventh art in children.

October - November - Italian Film Festival, Villerupt

For a taste of the richness of Italian cinema, we invite you to the Villerupt Italian Film Festival. Like its cuisine, Italian cinema is as good as it is varied, and you'll have the chance to see for yourself over the 15 days of screenings.

The cinemas of Villerupt will be welcoming you to screenings of the films in competition, as well as some of the great classics of Italian cinema. During this event, where current directors and new Italian talent are in the limelight, six prizes will be awarded to the best films.

Meanwhile, this traditional mining town, home to a large Italian community, will be decked out in transalpine colours. As well as the competition and the films being shown, there will be concerts, debates and tastings of Italian recipes on the programme. Andiamo?

October - Arab Film Festival, Fameck

Every year, the best of Arab cinema hits the screens in the town of Fameck, blowing a warm, creative breeze across the region. For 10 days, filmmakers from the Middle East and North Africa descend on Moselle for the Arab Film Festival. Throughout the event, you're invited to sit back and enjoy films from Morocco, Algeria, Palestine, Iraq and Jordan.

On the programme for this oriental escapade: 110 screenings, including short films, documentaries, dramas and comedies. A jury made up of figures from this emerging cinema is invited to judge the films presented at each edition and award six prizes to the cream of Arab filmmakers. It's a great way to discover this little-known yet talented cinema.
